Most people here played Jet Set Radio. Some people watched Air Gear.

So... In Jet Set Radio you can choose your Graffiti and in some new mods you can add your own graffiti. You can spray over your enemies graffiti to go through levels. So... How about a new way to gain XP: Spraying over government propaganda with your own personal graffiti that you can import from your computer just like in TF2's spray function.

How about another version:

In Air Gear to win a basic race, one of the racers need to place their sticker on the finish line. How about the same thing in Hover? For example an idea of a new mode: Graffiti Race. In this mode you'll need to race to the finish, spray graffiti in right spots and spray your last graffiti at the finish line. This will create a complicated kind of race for advanced players of the game.

There's already a few topics about it, and the main reason custom graffitis aren't here is that the devs (and i guess most of the players) don't want to see people spraying dicks and other charming stuff everywhere on the map.

As for a your second point, i can't recall seeing somewhere what the graff purpose will be in the end, but the developers are definitely working on making them useful :D

I once came across child porn on I think garrys mod dark rp and on CS.

So that is also one of the fears of players allowed to having custom graffiti.

I hope we could get a graffiti creator where we can create tags with preset shapes, icons and colours.

Well we can at least have more variety... For example... Not custom graffiti, but graffiti created by the community/developers

That's more likely, yes.

If you're worried about people doing innapropriet things in the custom graffiti- then make the graffiti scanable. When you scan it, it can show who is responsible for it and you can report them OR choose to block them so you wont see anything they do ever again. That would be a really helpful feature.

I'm more excited about the graffiti aspects of this game more than anything else! I hope they don't hold back with it.

The problem with that method is, you will inevitably have jerks who make false reports. Also, that method would require someone who's job it is to review reports.

Maybe on steamwork shop it could work?

or we can submit our custom graffiti to the devs in-game on hover and see if it will be approved.

This seems like a cool idea, but then Fusty or select chosen members would have to do the approving, which is probably a tedious and boring job.

And if simply adding more types of graffiti that when you personalize the character can also customize the graffiti?

In plan, Graffiti 1 Graffiti 2, etc.

And the colors of graffiti can be changed or that are the colors suit

Actually guys i don't think that will be a problem
As the community grows there WILL be people who would love to help out in any way they can
And dont we have the sidekicks for the purpose of delivering information to and from the devs effectively? It's quite possible that they could take it upon themselves to do some of the dirty-work

That's true, but I feel like it would be ruined by someone with not-so-pure intentions if we did have someone approving workshop graffitis.

Well I really do hope not just anyone could be the one to approve? I'm sure that could get locked into further down the line

I agree that it shouldn't be just anyone, but I've seen people who seemed like good community members that turn rotten. All I'm saying is that as soon as something goes to the community, usually someone ruins it for everyone else. I'm just trying to be realistic, don't get me wrong, but caution is required.

I'm not saying caution isn't required

Pretty sure we're on the same page here

This is why in the future Hover (for me) should use Steam Workshop. With that some contributors will can add a custom graffiti and players will can approve or not theses by voting. Something like what Valve is doing for Counter-Strike, with skins.
I dont talk about commercialise them with the Steam Marketplace (that'll be the choise of Fusty Game and Midgar Studio and anyway I don't think that'll be really rentable). But if a graffiti gain enough vote and is correct in the Fusty point of view (no vulgarity / sexual content / etc), it will be downloadable for all Hover's player (or unlockable ingame, I dont know how Fusty will use that possibility in the future).

For me, that's a good balance between liberty and control of what is visible ingame. But obviously I can't pretend that's the best solution, the debate is here for that.

I hadn't really thought about the public voting process before approval, that definitely fixes my issue.
